Colin Kaepernick's lawyer predicts the Panthers or Patriots will sign his client

Colin Kaepernick's agreement with the NFL over his collusion lawsuit has led to speculation about what's going on.

Will the rules open the door for a team to sign the 31-year-old quarterback?

Kaepernick's lawyer, Mark Geragos, is of the same opinion and has indicated two likely landing points.

"Bold Prediction" by Mark Geragos on Kaepernick

"I'm going to make a bold prediction that one of the three teams will get it back," Geragos told CNN recently. "The natural thing would be that if Cam Newton is absent, the natural place would be to play with Eric (Reid) in Carolina."

Reid, the Panthers safety officer who recently signed a three-year extension in Carolina, was a plaintiff alongside Kaepernick in the NFL collusion case.

Geragos is playing on the assumption that Newton could take a season with a shoulder injury, an idea launched by Panthers owner David Tepper at the end of the season.

Tepper took the risk on Reid

Tepper, a first-year owner, took over from team founder Jerry Richardson, who was forced to leave the league as a result of allegations of sexual harassment. He oversaw Reid's signing and would appear as a likely candidate for Kaepernick's signature if an owner was.

Kaepernick to the patriots?

Geragos also mentioned the patriots of New England as a possibility.

"Besides the Panthers, it would not surprise me that Bob Kraft (owner of the Patriots) is acting," Geragos said. "That would not surprise me."

Kraft is a prominent supporter of President Donald Trump, who led the charge against the NFL protests, urging homeowners to "get that son out of the woods" at a political rally in Alabama in 2017.

Despite his support for Trump, Kraft criticized Trump's tone during the protests. Kraft is also a supporter of rapper Meek Mill, who served a controversial prison sentence for breaching probation. This position is in line with Kaepernick's calls for social justice.

How does Geragos think Kaepernick would go with Tom Brady?

Geragos is just guessing

CNN interrupted the interview before Geragos mentioned the third team he referred to.

It should be noted that Geragos is campaigning for Kaepernick to sign up with a team, calling him "the most fit vegan I've ever seen" and who "seems ready to play".

Geragos is not an expert on the NFL and has no idea how the NFL teams signed Kaepernick when making these predictions.
