Florida star Keyontae Johnson’s field collapse could be linked to a previous positive test for COVID-19, according to the Gainesville Sun.
Johnson was diagnosed with acute myocarditis, also known as heart inflammation, a condition that is believed to result sometimes from certain cases of the virus.

The SEC preseason player of the year, Johnson is set to miss the remainder of the season. He was released from the hospital on Tuesday, his parents, Nika and Marrecus Johnson, said in a statement.

Johnson tested positive for the virus this summer, as have several other teammates. He underwent a heart evaluation – an EKG, echocardiogram, and blood test that can reveal signs of heart problems – before resuming training.
“In Florida, we do an EKG and an echo on every athlete that comes to us, so we’ve already recorded it. So if someone gets COVID, and we repeat that heart checkup, we can compare to what they were. when they arrived as freshmen or transferred here.
