College basketball picks, schedule: predictions, odds for Duke vs Louisville and other key games on Saturday

[ad_1]

The past week has been as loud as any weekend in the sport of college basketball we’ve seen this season. Six ranked teams fell – including five in the top 15 – while taking hits like North Carolina and Kentucky as their respective seasons continued to slip away from preseason expectations. Now this Saturday is shaping up to be potentially just as important.

A total of 19 ranked teams are scheduled to play on Saturday in a day that will be busy from noon to midnight, nine of which are on the road in potential trap locations.

Our panel of experts are poised to break down every major game with direct and against-spread choices, so if you want to scratch that gaming itch, let us give you the edge with some analysis and thoughts below.

This Houston team is on an absolute tear and already has a 26-point win over Temple on the restart. The Owls should be more competitive this time around, as they play their home turf following back-to-back league wins. Still, the Cougars are an elite defensive team ready to capitalize on Temple’s offensive fights. Prediction: Houston 74, Temple 59 – David Cobb

Last Chances:

Baylor Bear -9

Oklahoma State hasn’t been blown away or passed by anyone this season and is good enough to give Baylor the same kind of challenge the Bears have faced in games against Texas Tech and Kansas. But the Cowboys are probably not good enough to cause anger Prediction: Baylor 86, Oklahoma State 79 – David Cobb

No 15 Ohio State to No 10 Wisconsin

Last Chances:

Wisconsin Badgers -5

When: 4 pm | Or: Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin

The Big Ten are brutal and unpredictable, as was demonstrated again Thursday night when Indiana upset Iowa on the road and held the high-powered Hawkeyes without a basket for 11 minutes in the second half. So while Wisconsin appears to be moving in the right direction and the state of Ohio is experiencing a near loss, there really is no sense in trying to read the significance of the recent results. It has the makings of another brutally contested conference game, and the Badgers only have a slight advantage thanks to their defense, which should be able to handle a growing Ohio State team. happier at 3 points. Prediction: Wisconsin 68, State of Ohio 66 – David Cobb

Neither Duke nor Louisville have a ton of momentum in their sails just yet – Duke has lost its last two tight road games and Louisville has also lost its last two. But the Cardinals have been better overall this season, they’re more experienced and they have the advantage of playing this one at home. I’m going to put the points with them here primarily as a show of faith in Carlik Jones, the senior from Louisville who currently plays at the All-ACC level. Duke is just 1-2 on the season ATS in a road environment, and Louisville is 5-5-1 ATS as a favorite. Prediction: Louisville 73, Duke 70 – Kyle Boone

Last Chances:

Tennessee Volunteers -8.5

When: 8:30 p.m. | Or: Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee
TV: SEC Network | Direct: fuboTV (Try for free)

Tennessee were woken up earlier this week when they were bombed – by 26 points – on the road against a shorthanded Florida team. But that result is an outlier given the way UT has played this season. He’s been one of the SEC’s best and most consistent forces. As he returns home in search of a bounce, I expect him to get exactly that – impressively to boot as he reasserts himself as one of the real contenders for the SEC. The Vols are 8-4 against the spread as a favorite and do so here with a double-digit doubling. Prediction: Tennessee 72, Missouri 61 – Kyle Boone

# 23 UConn to # 11 Creighton

When: 12 h | Or: CHI Health Center Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska
TV: Fox | Direct: fuboTV (Try for free)

UConn remains without star James Bouknight, one of the top scorers in all of college basketball. So without him I can’t pick up Huskies on the road – at least not directly. Their only quality outing in his absence came against Butler two weeks ago, and since then they have lost to St. John’s at home and narrowly squeaked a victory over DePaul. Good place here for the Bluejays to build much-needed confidence after losing their second straight earlier this week. Go meet in the middle and take UConn against the number but Creighton to comfortably win. Prediction: Creighton 76, UConn 70 – Kyle Boone
