The red carpet has been rolled up instead of unrolled. The lights weren’t so bright and the pomp and circumstance was toned down Thursday night. That hasn’t stopped some of college football’s biggest stars from taking center stage. The 2020-2021 College Football Awards were handed out in front of a national television audience ahead of Monday’s College Football Playoff National Championship between the Alabama No.1 and Ohio State No.3 .

It’s probably not a shock that the Alabama players have raked the material. Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith took home the Maxwell Award and the Walter Camp Award, both awarded to the country’s top player. He also won the Biletnikoff Prize awarded to the country’s top receiver. Alabama quarterback Mac Jones won the Davey O’Brien Award as the nation’s best quarterback, half-back Najee Harris took home the Doak Walker award for the best running back in the game and Landon Dickerson won the Rimington Award as the best center in the country. A total of 20 awards were given out on Thursday evening.
