If you haven’t enjoyed College Football Week 6, there is something seriously wrong with you. There were close finishes, upheavals and field goals from start to finish. From start to finish, it was by far the busiest Saturday of the season. Again, no team has personified this tension as Notre Dame No.14, who beat Virginia Tech on a last-second field goal to win 32-29 at Blacksburg. The Fighting Irish drop to 5-1 with their only loss in Week 5 to No.5 Cincinnati.
But Notre Dame was not the only team to narrow it down with a victory. After seeing a 13-point halftime lead disappear in the third quarter, the Michigan No.9 used a late fumble and a field goal to survive the Nebraska scare. However, not all the favorites came away with a win. The No.10 BYU struggled with turnover in its 26-17 home loss to Boise State. And, of course, the top-ranked Alabama suffered their first loss in over a year to Texas A&M at College Station thanks to a field goal.
Elsewhere, the Iowa No.3 came back to stun the Penn State No.4 to go undefeated and stay squarely in the race for the national title. In the Red River Rivalry, No.6 Oklahoma came back from a 21-point deficit to stun No.21 Texas behind play from quarterback Caleb Williams, who replaced ineffective Heisman Trophy contender Spencer Rattler in half-time.
