The early signing period has come to an end and the dust has all but dissipated after three days of big decisions made by college football hopefuls.
Friday has been busy on the verbal engagement and signing front, with several hard-hitting decisions affecting the appearance of the SI All-American team’s recruiting standings heading into the weekend.
SI99 offensive lineman Bryce Foster started Friday morning with his pick of Texas A&Mr. SI All-American finalist and running back Deshun Murrell followed him with a re-engagement at UCLA and a switch from LSU to Notre Dame was made an hour later when Georgia safety Khari Gee made the news official. . LSU would rebound in the evening, adding upside down defensive lineman Bryce Langston. The Irish would add another flip soon after in running back Audric Estime and Florida State ended the day with a re-engagement from wide IMG Academy Malik McClain. Washington, Stanford and Kansas were also among those to add Friday commitments.
Top 25 of the early signing period
1. Alabama
24 verbal commitments, 10 in SI99
The daily double of the turnarounds of the SJM of Wednesday, SI99 athlete Jojo Earle and passer Keanu Koht were enough to push Bama by OSU up to the top spot.
2. State of Ohio
21 verbal commitments, 11 in SI99
No program has more SI99 members than the Buckeyes, who remain in the mix for several elite prospects in the New Year.
3. Georgia
20 verbal commitments, 6 in SI99
UGA survived one of the biggest surprises of signing day with a class of the top three.
4. LSU
22 verbal commitments, 6 in SI99
No elite recruiting program has handled the fluctuation of the engagement roster like the Tigers did, but it ended up adding a pair of SI99 members (DL Maason Smith, RB Armoni Goodwin) and losing some. only one (Early) in the midst of chaos. Not inking LB Raesjon Davis is worth watching.
5. Clemson
18 verbal commitments, 8 in SI99
A typical Clemson signing day meant locking in commitments and minimal drama.
6. Notre Dame
27 verbal commitments, 4 in SI99
The Irish reversed two hopes on Friday to hold Florida and Oregon in the top 10.
7. Florida
25 verbal commitments, 4 in SI99
Wednesday was marked by some big misfires for UF, but a nice rebound on Thursday as it added offensive tackle in State Austin Barber assists. On Friday night, UF may have lost their most explosive offensive engagement.
8. Oregon
21 verbal commitments, 4 in SI99
The Ducks retained a place in the top 10 by keeping their promises and adding former linebacker Jonathan Flowe to the mix.
9. Texas A&M
20 verbal commitments, 3 in SI99
The Aggies have had a week about as strong as any program and that leads to a top 10 debut. SI99 member Bryce Foster was the icing on the cake, after the addition of Tunmise Adeleye mid-week, with Friday morning’s decision on Oklahoma.
10. Miami
21 verbal commitments, 2 in SI99
Miami clings to this spot above Oklahoma for completing the one-cycle mission of getting his QB to Jake Garcia.
11. Oklahoma
16 verbal commitments, 5 in SI99
Adding Savion Byrd to the offensive line was a big win, but missing Bryce Foster was even bigger. Many UO goals, including the best available running back Camar Wheaton, remain a possibility in the weeks to come.
12. Michigan
20 verbal commitments, 3 in SI99
It’s been a week of ups and downs for UM, adding in State running back Donovan Edwards and playing on the sidelines with several long-standing commitments while losing SI99 pass passer Quintin Sommervile (UCLA) and the linebacker Branden Jennings (Maryland) at lower programs.
13. North Carolina
18 verbal commitments, 2 in SI99
Status quo for Mack Brown and company, a program that is starting to look ready to fight on the track like the ACC Coastal darling he has become on the field.
14. USC
20 verbal commitments, 3 in SI99
USC added a broad and grabbed national headlines by pairing quarterback Jaxson Dart with Miller Moss, but losses of LB Ma’a Gaoteote and WR QuayDarius Davis bite.
15. Be Miss
23 verbal commitments, 1 in SI99
The Rebels continue to rise through the SIAA ranks with key skill additions, including nickel top 10 Markevious Brown, who we can see making an early impact at Oxford.
16. Wisconsin
21 verbal commitments, 0 in SI99
If there’s one sneaky class that may still be undervalued in the top 20, it’s Badger’s Transport.
17. Washington
15 verbal commitments, 2 in SI99
The Huskies remained seated this week as they tried to shock the recruiting world with phenomenon as it stands JT Tuimoloau.
18. Texas
19 verbal commitments, 1 in SI99
UT held firm with his class but failed to sign the only SI99 member in its midst, Ishmael Ibraheem, who was recently arrested.
19. Maryland
22 verbal commitments, 1 in SI99
The Terps have a clear momentum on the trail and it goes beyond the Jennings flip on Wednesday.
20. Tennessee
22 verbal commitments, 2 in SI99
Flights had a rough time leading up to ESP, losing several engagements along the way. While new quarterback Kaidon Salter locked his signing on Wednesday, defensive headliner Dylan Brooks did not.
21. Arkansas
We called Wisconsin the sneaky-good class, so Arkansas must be just a good class. Adding Georgia defensive lineman Cameron Ball and keeping the rest of the entry list on Wednesday was business for Sam Pittman and his company.
22. Iowa
17 verbal commitments, 0 in SI99
The Hawkeyes have maintained their class through the week, impressive given some of the recent off-field chatter around the program.
23. State NC
19 verbal commitments, 0 in SI99
The Wolfpack has kept its commitments with minimal drama, a sign of a stable program.
24. Nebraska
19 verbal commitments, 1 in SI99
Status quo in Lincoln this week, possibly something welcome after a difficult week of no-shows leading to unofficial vacation.
25. UCLA
17 Verbal commitments, 1 in SI99
UCLA created pretty much all of the ESP features we put in place and a big Friday, adding running back Deshun Murrell, propelled the Bruins into the top 25 for the first time.
