Penn State beat Pitt a bit during a round trip match on the last lap. The Nittany Lions had a slow start in the first two weeks in a row, falling 10-7 against Buffalo in the second week and 10-10 tied with Pitt in that game. Penn State was able to beat Buffalo and scored 28 in the second half, but only seven against Pitt. The offensive will have to find a way to produce earlier in the game as the Maryland, Purdue, Iowa, Michigan and Michigan regions are coming on time. – Tom VanHaaren

No. 20 Washington State 31, Houston 24

Another year, another productive quarterback Mike Leach. Anthony Gordon, a fifth-year senior, had an impressive start with three straight games with more than 400 yards and three touchdowns. He has an exceptional arm, is precise, can launch easily and seems to be a perfect choice for the Leach air raid. Temple 20, No. 21 Maryland 15

A week after crushing a team ranked Syracuse and having been part of the AP Top 25 for the first time since 2013, the Terps have returned to reality after a heavy defeat at Temple's memory. The Terps were only 1 in 6 on the fourth try. Maryland's true identity is probably somewhere in between, but she still has not mastered coherence. In Maryland, there's a week left before hosting James Franklin, former Penn State and PSU's pending head coach. – Heather Dinich
