Rivian Automotive has announced the presentation of its first two models at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, which opens this week in the California capital. Just days after the start of the event, the brand has already unveiled the first of these models, the new Rivian R1T. The new R1T is a full-size, all-electric pickup built on a skateboard frame that houses its huge battery pack in the center, between the axles, while the engines are located next to each of the wheels. the weight distribution is almost perfect.
According to the brand, 52% of the weight is on the front axle. This position also allows for many shortcomings, such as the large front trunk located in the huge front or the curious opening behind the cabin, because under the rear cradle is a transverse compartment that runs through the entire vehicle.
Under the crib platform, we also find another hole that houses the normal size spare wheel.
Each of the electric motors has 200 hp (147 kW), although the total combined power is slightly lower than 800 hp (previously announced figure) and we will find three different versions, with different figures of the combined total power, always depending on the size of the battery installed, as shown in the table below.
According to Rivian, the first deliveries will take place at the end of 2020, although they have already confirmed that initially, only versions with batteries of 135 kWh and 180 kWh would be produced, and therefore the most expensive, which we we have no price yet.
The most economical version, with 105 kWh batteries, will have a base price of $ 61,500 after the various incentives these zero emission vehicles have in the United States.
