Street Dog Day: Why is it celebrated on July 27 around the world?

July 27 from 2008, and at the initiative of a Chilean student, commemorates the
International Day of the Street Dog. The purpose of this date, celebrated in several Latin American countries and in Spain, is to create a collective consciousness and to help all
animals in the street situation

The idea came to Ignacio Gac, a Chilean journalist, who promoted across Latin America through social networks. The young man chose the month of July, because at low temperature during the winter period, he exposed street dogs to cold and sickness
