Coomeva recognizes the financial crisis alerted by Procuraduría, but defends progress

The Attorney General's office, headed by lawyer Fernando Carrillo, said Monday that it was necessary to take measures to prevent 2 217 567 users from 217 municipalities across the country from being affected.

The entity suggests in particular that the tax auditor be sacked and that a controller be appointed to carry out the actions and strategies needed to overcome the crisis; that Coomeva submit periodic reports to the Attorney General's Office and the Comptroller's Office; that a monitoring plan be put in place to enable control of vertical integration; that advanced direct transfers to the subsidized and contributory scheme be supervised, administrative expenditures reviewed and the contracted network inspected to verify the provision of health services and to ensure their quality and timeliness.

A similar appeal has been sent by the prosecutor's office to the entities Emdisalud, Convida, Comfacundi and Dusakawi, which have a high level of indebtedness.

In this regard, the Superintendent of Health, Fabio Aristizábal, said that the main complaints from users came from Coomeva, Medimás and SaludVida.

"Some have some peaks, others are lower, but we are doing a comprehensive follow-up of the decrease of these petitions, complaints and claims," ​​he said in a recent interview.

He added that there are now 44 EPSs and 18,000 clinics and hospitals in the country, the number of which has increased in recent years.
