One of the greatest achievements of the Colombian Air Force is already in orbit: the FACSAT-1, a nanosatellite with which it is expected to obtain images that contribute to the development of the country.

"With the nanosatellite, FCC is focusing on the development and use of its own space capabilities to ensure technological and satellite autonomy, seeking to reduce dependence on foreign technologies, in addition to covering the national territory on a daily basis; the images obtained can be used, for its precision, in the urban development, the restitution of the grounds, the substitution of illicit cultures, the attention brought to the natural disasters and the fires ", explained the institution.
The movements, receiving images and data sent by the FACSAT-1, will be supervised at the Military School of Aviation "Marco Fidel Suárez" located in the city of Cali, where a specialized team consisting of CAF officers, school, teachers and researchers.
The FACSAT-1, built in Denmark, will have a lifespan of three to five years, depending on the variability of energy consumption.
