Intelligence units ask if the capture of three Venezuelans is linked to a possible attack by the president.
After the capture of two Venezuelan citizens carrying long-range war material and weapons, on December 21, and the arrest of another person with a grenade and a submachine gun in Barranquilla, Wednesday, December 25, Authorities are investigating a possible attack on President Ivan Duque in the coming days.
According to the intelligence services, the alleged attack would be committed during a public ceremony in which the president would participate, according to the newspaper El Tiempo.
The police, the army and the Ministry of Defense are advancing the investigations needed to determine the responsibilities of these people.
Two of the detainees, Pedro José Acosta and José Vicente Gómez, were arrested in a public service bus in Valledupar with two 5.56-caliber rifles, three vendors and a reticule. The third man was captured four days later in Barranquilla.
On the badumption that the authorities are managing, it seems that the Venezuelan government would have an interest in doing business in Colombia on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro on January 10th.
In this sense, the authorities are trying to establish whether there is a link between the alleged attack plan of the president and the presence in the country of the three men in whose power were the weapons.
