ABC. There would be a new system in the league: one champion per year, no average | Colombian Football | Eagle League

The future of the Colombian tournament as we know it could change this Friday at the badembly of Dimayor. The tournament system will be the subject of a broad conversation that will also include the premium channel.

But the change of format is undoubtedly the center of the controversy. What is it? What would it change?

Here, the summary of the proposal:

How would the league play?

The 20 teams of the league will be divided into two groups (A and B). An annual tournament of 48 dates (506 matches) would be played in three phases: the first would have matches in full format with two rounds. In the second phase, the 20 teams will be divided into five circuits and each of them would have different objectives. In the third phase, the title will be played in a round-robin final between the first quadrangle A and B.

How would the points be counted?

The points obtained at the 40 dates will be counted in the two groups and not in a general table, to define those clbadified in the next phase.

And how would you define the champion and the qualifiers for international tournaments?

The first 4 of each of the first phase tables (A and B) will play to go to the final and international quotas of the Copa Libertadores. The next group will attempt to qualify for the South American Cup and Libertadores. The following will seek to qualify the South Americans (C and D).

Would the dates of the clbadics come back?

Yes, the days of the clbadics would return to the schedule because in 2018, because of a tight schedule for the World Cup, they were eliminated.

What would happen to the descent?

This would be a novelty because it would eliminate the average that today defines the top teams. The two who lose the category would be decided in the quadrangular E, in six dates.

What do club leaders think?

"We need to modernize Colombian football and modern football is playing long championships to find the star, but it also seeks to attract and entertain, which is an international participation and not a descent," said the president of Millonarios, Enrique Camacho, in the newspaper El Le temps

However, there are votes against. "Several presidents are worried that there are not two finals and two champions per year, we do not know if this could affect the dynamics of the tournaments," said Santa Fe President Andrés Carreño.
