Karl-Heinz Rummenigge manager of Bayern Munich, disqualified rumors about the return of James Rodríguez to Real Madrid for the upcoming season.

" The contractual situation of James is well known, a lot of information coming from Spain is not necessarily true ," said Rummenigge on Friday.

James Rodríguez arrived at Bayern in July 2017 on loan for two seasons, with the option of purchase. This means that the agreement that the German club signed with Real Madrid is valid until July 2019 .

However, Rummenigge hinted that the Bavarian team expects to have the Colombian for much longer . " I am sure he will play with Bayern next season (2018/19) and beyond ," said the manager. In this sense, it is worth asking: will the club activate the purchase option?

Rummenigge made these statements after an event held at the club museum to honor Jupp Heynckes, the coach of the team for much of the previous season.

Niko Kovac, Bayern's new coach, had already demonstrated in a similar sense to the manager's and badured that " it seems clear that (James) remains" .

With these statements, Rummenigge and Kovac deny the rumors that have been published about it by Spain. For example, the newspaper Marca (close to Real Madrid) said Tuesday, April 17 that the Bavarian club was already looking for "substitute James".

But the coach of Bayern, two days later, was adamant saying that it is Bayern who decides when he concludes the agreement with the merengue team and James keeps up until 2019.

" Right now, we seem to want to take this option ," Kovac said Thursday at a press conference.
