CINEMA: Monkeys: the Colombian film that will compete at the Sundance Film Festival 2019

The Sundance Film Festival has selected Colombian film Monos from director Alejandro Landes in official competition for the World Cinema Dramatic section of the 2019 edition.

The film was shot entirely in Colombia and with the support of Caracol Televisión, Dago García Producciones, Cine Colombia and Dynamo. The film will be premiering in Colombia in the first quarter of 2019.

The World Cinema Dramatic section features films by emerging filmmakers. These are world or international premieres and have a minimum duration of 50 minutes.

Selected films are eligible for Jury Awards and Audience Awards: Jury Grand Prize, Audencia Award, Best Achievement Award, Best Performance Award and Best Screenplay Award. The festival will be held from January 24 to February 3 in Park City, Utah (United States).

Alejandro Landes, the director, was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and grew up between Ecuador and Colombia. His first fiction film, Porphyry, it was premiered and presented worldwide at the Cannes 2011 edition, at the fortnight of the directors, winning the main awards in several international festivals.
