Corruption of Deutsche Bank Panama Papers

The survey comes from the Panama Papers. The bank is thought to have helped its clients form partnerships in tax havens.

Deutsche Bank shares fall by around 3% this morning after its headquarters in Frankfurt was searched as part of a money laundering investigation by the authorities.

German police raided group offices suspicions of money laundering, the prosecutor's office in Frankfurt has informed the German media.

The survey was conducted in the offices of the largest private commercial bank of Germany, in Frankfurt, Eschborn, and in the municipality of Groß-Umstadt, also located in the Land of Hesse.

Some 170 employees of the Frankfurt Public Prosecutor's Office, the Federal Criminal Investigation Bureau, tax inspectors and the police participated in this registry. They are investigating a 50-year-old employee and a 46-year-old Deutsche Bank employee, as well as other unidentified company officials.

This case is unrelated to the charges brought against the Danish bank Danske Bank, but data provided by the Panama Papers, which suggested that Deutsche Bank was able to help its clients set up shell companies in tax havens.
