NEW YORK.- A woman climbed to the base of the Statue of Liberty on Independence Day shortly after several people were arrested for hanging on the pedestal of the monument a sign in which the suppression of the Service of Immigration and Customs (ICE) is requested.
A video taken from a helicopter showed the woman sitting at the base of the statue's Toga on Wednesday.
About 30 meters above the ground, the protester defied the police for about four hours before two NYPD officers came to the base and surrendered to her.
