A Despite the scandal surrounding its former president Carlos Ghosn, imprisoned and accused of tax evasion and using Nissan resources to his advantage, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi group wants to bring peace of mind to its investors. That is why its main spokesmen reaffirmed yesterday their strategic agreement to the press: "Unanimously and with conviction, the Boards of Directors of Groupe Renault, Nissan Motor Co. and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. reaffirmed their deep commitment to the alliance", note the official statement.

For their part, in a letter to their workers, the leaders of the three companies said: "The alliance is not national, but comprehensive, and meeting does not need only a few, but a whole team." The text is signed by Hirato Saikawa, executive director of Nissan, Thierry Bollore, executive director of Renault and Osamu Masuko, president and CEO of Mitsubishi.

Thus, the alliance remains the largest in the world in the automotive industry, with sales exceeding 10.6 million vehicles in 2017, marketed in more than 200 countries in which each brand is present. They are also leaders in zero emission vehicles, thanks to the development of Japanese companies. The goal for the future – introduced in June of this year – is to reach more than $ 11.4 billion in combined savings and additional revenue through 2022, thanks to the use of platforms and shared motorisation or joint R & D (research and development) projects.

The effect of this announcement has already been felt during the trading day, both in France and Japan: the Renault share rose by 0.7%, that of Nissan by 1.4% and that of of Mitsubishi 0.3%. It is expected that this recovery will continue in the coming days.
