A suicide bomber blew up his explosive charge at the entrance of Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Rural Development in Afghanistan, southwest of Kabul, killing at least six people and injuring another.

The attack, the second in more than a month against said ministry, was recorded at a time when staff left the building after the end of their working day.

Witnesses said the suicide bomber targeted a vehicle carrying a group of foreigners leaving the ministry, according to a news report from TOLO News.

The attack took place a few hours after the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) revealed that the number of civilians killed as a result of the conflict in course the first six months of the year was reaching record levels

In its semi-annual report, UNAMA reported that between 1 January and 30 June, 1,692 civilians had died, more than in any other comparable period of the last decade.
