The murderer of a young university student in Transmilenio sentenced to 35 years in prison

On the night of April 18, 2017, 22-year-old Daniela García Rincón was murdered on the pedestrian bridge of Station Ángeles 21, which is part of Transmilenio's Suba trunk. This Thursday, the criminal court sentenced the murderer of the young student in graphic design at the University of Los Andes: Lenis Fernando Mendoza will pay 35 years in prison for the aggravated homicide crime.

According to the sentencing decision, it is Mendoza who shot Garcia the moment she left the station. Although earlier versions suggested that the university was opposed to a robbery, the authorities rejected the hypothesis because all of Daniela's cases appeared. However, the judge in the case confirmed that the crime was set around an attempted robbery. In fact, in the ruling, Justice has estimated the criminal way of operating Mendoza in this area of ​​Suba.

Mendoza was captured in January of this year, after several months of identification work, which was finally realized thanks to the videos of the security cameras installed in the vicinity of the 21 Angeles station. At the time, the Ministry of Security reported that Mendoza was a repeat offender for the crime of violent carnal access and was captured for this crime in November 2017, during which month García died after seven months in prison. to remain in a coma

The family of the victim accepted the sentence and badured that, although their daughter did not come back to life, there was justice. For its part, the subject condemned badured that he will appeal the decision, which is of first instance.

Facts

On Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at 5:00 pm, Daniela García left Teusaquillo, where was the place where she did her internship. The young woman went on other errands and around 9:00 pm. He went to his house in the district of Provence, in the city of Suba, but from the station 21 Angeles was attacked and shot. A police patrol found her in the street and took her to the Suba Hospital where she received first aid, but early in the morning she had to be transferred at the intensive care unit of the Shaio clinic.

Daniela fought a battle of more than six months against the wound caused by the projectile which was lodged in the right side of his skull, and which was extracted several hours after the attack by a group of neurosurgeons.
