The Supreme Court will resume Petro's investigation for alleged corruption

The prosecutor's office has sent to the Supreme Court of Justice the investigation of Senator Gustavo Petro on the video in which he appears receiving and counting bundles of contraventions, confirmed Thursday the two entities.

The Supreme Court is charged with investigating Petro, former mayor of Bogotá and former presidential candidate for Colombia, Humana, since he is a senator and, therefore, a certified judge.

High Court sources said that the entity was currently reviewing "numerous" complaints against Petro and that this new case would be referred to the Supreme Court's special investigation chamber.

Thereafter, he will follow the usual procedure in case a charge is laid against Gustavo Petro.

In the video, published Tuesday evening in the Senate during a debate with Attorney General Nestor Humberto Martinez, in the case of Odebrecht, we can see Petro sitting at a table where he receives and counted bundles of notes inside. from the living room of a private house.

According to Petro, this money was a loan made by the architect Simón Vélez apparently for a political campaign.

Senator Paloma Valencia, from the Democratic Center in Power, who unveiled the video, badured that it was "rare to lend as much money" to someone and that whoever does it would 39; registers.
