A large number of demolition charges appeared in a scrap truck at a steel company in Sogamoso (Boyacá). The truck, which came from Santa Marta, arrived with 30 explosives. These were deactivated by troops of the Tarqui Army Battalion, in the city of Boyacá.
At the time of unloading waste in the iron and steel industry, these explosives appeared. The workers "called the members of the army who supported themselves with anti-explosives of the police, succeeding in recovering the material which we have in custody", according to the commander of the first brigade, the Colonel Omar Zapata.
The material has been transferred to the army headquarters, where it will be triggered by the Mars group. This type of demolition charge is used by the Corps of Army Engineers. With it, the mobility of troops advancing on the front line opens.
This is not the first time that Zapata has ratified the presence of explosive elements in the Boyacá steel mills. At the Diaco factory in Sotaquirá, seven warheads and five grenades were discovered.
"All kinds of waste reach the steelmakers and that is why we advise them, often they do not know what explosive material they should not put in the oven to be melted," said the manager.
