This is what the citizens of Envigado feel after the capture of the mayor

That only God is the one who judges or that is the justice that must act and render a verdict. Between the skeptics and those who still maintain confidence, the inhabitants of Envigado try to unravel what lies behind the capture of the mayor of the municipality, Raul Cardonaand eight other treaties for a supposedly fair contract.

"The mayor is a good person, he is the scapegoat, but he is not the villain of the film," he says. Nicolás Arango, inhabitant of the sector, sitting on the outskirts of the municipal palace. He shows the main park and adds: "Look how beautiful it is, look at Envigado without a hole in the street. It is not guilty of anything."

In Veeduría de Envigado, on the other hand, they feel deceived. Wilber Montoya, its coordinator, indicates that what is happening in Envigado today is an opportunity to encourage good contractual practices.

According to the veedores, in the municipality, the direct contracts go beyond the public markets. This situation, adds Montoya, could lead to irregular activities. "It's the justice that has to come in to define guilt, but the audios are very clear, in which he knew a situation and decided to ignore it," notes the veedor.

Hilda Castañeda, environmental advisor and founder of Ecohumedales, says that if the mayor and the people involved are entitled to the presumption of innocence, it is shameful to listen to the audios that the Office of the Prosecutor explains in the context of the case .

Castañeda points out that locals are waiting for the prosecutor to speed up investigations in order to clarify what has happened. It is necessary, he adds, to review the management of the Envigado Council and its role of political control, as well as to call on citizens to participate more actively in this type of discussion.

The sadness and discomfort, as if it were a duel, are what they feel at the Girasol Cultural Corporation. Lucelly Castañeda, director of the organization and member of the cultural council of Envigado, said that in 30 years of community work, it was the first time that a mayor had listened to their concerns and had the doors of his office open to always attend.

Alexander Barajas, The former chairman of the planning council of Envigado, believes that the municipality is still a well-managed locality with good performance indicators. However, he notes, a risky situation is that the public administration has for years been under the same political coalition.

"The political opposition of Envigado's liberal leadership is like an opposition to the pillow war. It's too much power for one group," he says.

With signs and candles, a congregation of envigadeños parade yesterday evening of the school Fernando González at the pbadage of the office of the mayor. The reason: to support the mayor Raúl Cardona and the other leaders involved in a mobilization that also extended to social networks as part of the # YoCreoEnRaúl campaign.

In a statement, the Envigado Council declared that it "respects and respects the action of the authorities and wants the facts to be clarified quickly and in the best possible way".

"God is the judge," commented Luciana Cardona, inhabitant of Envigado. "He did very good work here, we were very sorry, because we were happy."

In the midst of this whole process, Mayor Raúl Cardona faces not only the judicial investigations that commit him, but also the loss of confidence of his constituents. And while investigations are ongoing, the community is left with only uncertainties.
