Today is celebrated the Day of Cooperativism, one of the engines in the development of Misiones

In 1992 the UN resolved that the first Saturday of July is commemorated the International Day Cooperatives. In Misiones, all productive activities have institutions that promote economic and social growth in their communities.

In 1992, the United Nations (UN) issued a resolution by which it was established on the first Saturday of July as the International Day of Cooperatives. This date was chosen to commemorate the centenary of the International Co-operative Alliance formed by more than 760 million members from 100 countries

The province of Misiones has innumerable reasons to join this celebration since its origins, while she was a territory. National cooperativism was one of the main drivers of the economic, social and even cultural development of their communities.

Cooperatives currently cover virtually all activities, from agriculture to the provision of public services, including those that provide educational or financial services; just to mention a few items. A clear example is the distribution of electricity, in which nine co-operatives from different points of the province meet the needs of their residents.

In the case of agriculture, there are clear examples that the precept forces "can come true." In yerba mate, several co-operatives share market leadership with private companies, while in Livestock (pigs), there are also successful cooperatives, tobacco, tea, citrus, and the dairy sector are also chains in which cooperativism plays a fundamental role.

This sector is so important, who in the province has a Ministry of Cooperative, Mutual, Commercial and Integration Action "The social economy is a democratic alternative for the economic, cultural and political development of the community that allows, especially in times of crisis , to build viable societies through cooperation ", explains the organization led by Elida Vigo

that, beyond the conjuncture and the situations already crossed by the cooperative sector, it is undeniable that this movement retains its validity and consolidates itself as a necessary tool for the growth of Misiones.
