UN Congratulates Mexicans for "Civic Exercise of Participation" in Presidential Elections

The UN congratulated Saturday the Mexican people for "the civic exercise of participation" in Sunday's elections, won by leftist Andrés Manuel López Obrador, with whom he hopes to maintain "excellent cooperation".

With 64% of the vote, López Obrador of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) won 53.4% ​​of the vote and was followed by Ricardo Anaya of the National Action Party (PAN) with 22.6%.

Third, with 15, 9%, was José Antonio Meade, of the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI), a party that suffered a major setback in these elections due to the mandate of Enrique Peña Nieto (2012- 2018), affected by corruption scandals and a wave of increasing violence.
