SOUTHWEST RANCHES, Florida – A dog found abandoned in Colorado was returned to his family, nearly two years after his flight to Florida as a puppy.
Wings of Rescue, an animal charity, explains that the German Shepherd Cedar was covered with snow in a rural Colorado ditch, apparently malnourished and that he had an injured leg when a deputy marshal l & # 39; 39 found. The animal has been identified thanks to its microchip.
The youngest of four Peterson family dogs, Cedar was stolen from their garden in May 2017 in the Southwest Ranches town, north of Miami. At the time, other signs of missing pets were rising around the community.
At the time, Tamara Peterson had told reporters that she thought someone had jumped the fence to take the puppy for 4 months. The family posted flyers with photos of Cedar in the city, crisscrossed several neighborhoods and hired a detective to find the animal.

When Ryan took the dog to a vet, she examined the animal looking for a microchip and discovered that the puppy belonged to South Florida. Then the Petersons received a phone call.
"I immediately cried," said Tamara Peterson at the Miami Herald. "I could not believe it – I was in shock – it's almost two years to the day."
After three weeks of recovery, Wings of Rescue, a charity known for stealing pets from the disaster areas, helped organize the return flight from Cedar on Saturday. The Peterson children stroked Cedar's hairy chest and neck on a tarmac at the Fort Lauderdale airport, while the dog looked around and shook him.
"Miracles happen, especially when you microchip your pet," wrote the animal charity in a Facebook message on Cedar.
Peterson said that Cedar was resting and that the family was planning to take her to the pool as soon as she would be more beautiful.
