DENVER (AP) – Health officials have warned of potentially unhealthy air pollution along the Front Range Beach in Colorado due to high levels of ozone.
The Colorado Department of Health and Human Services issued an Ozone Alert that was to remain in effect until at least 16 hours. Sunday.
According to the agency, active children and adults and people with lung diseases such as asthma should reduce outdoor efforts, whether they are prolonged or heavy.
The affected area includes the southern and western parts of the Denver area, north of Boulder and Fort Collins.
Ground level ozone is created when vehicle exhaust gases, paints, cleaning agents and other chemicals react to the sun. It usually worsens in the summer and can cause serious breathing problems and trigger asthma attacks.
