Colts special-teams ace George Odum has been the best special-teammate throughout the season, playing plenty of shots through five different phases of the special-teams game. Odum registered 13 solo tackles and one assist without giving a penalty.
RB JONATHAN TAYLOR, INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
There were several rookie running backs who had good first seasons – which makes this position difficult to attribute to a single player – but the way Taylor finished the regular season for Indianapolis is what earned him the honors of the first team.
From Week 11 to the end of the regular season, Taylor’s 91.2% score placed second in the league ahead of Derrick Henry. His 33 failed forced tackles to the ground were left behind only Henry and Nick Chubb on that same stretch. It wasn’t always early enough, but Taylor started to find his place in this racing game as the season progressed.
Taylor’s reception ability – not something that was considered a force coming from Wisconsin – was also a pleasant surprise. He’s led all rookie running backs in the PFF receiving category (73.3), and he’s only lost one of 38 goals this year. Continuing to develop this part of his game will be important as we approach 2021.
As for Buckner, the reigning All-Pro was an absolute inner strength for the Colts, and he was worth every dollar and first-round pick Indianapolis spent to get him this last offseason, if not much more.
Buckner finished with 58 tackles (37 solo), 10 tackles for a loss, 9.5 sacks, 53 total QB presses, 16 QB hits, 3 defensive passes, 2 forced fumbles, one fumble recovered and safety for 15 games ( 14 departures) in 2020.
Per PFF, Buckner had an overall rating of +89.7 (4th best among inside defenders), which included a rating of +90.2 assists on the run.
His 9.5 sacks were the most scored by a defensive tackle in a single season in Colts franchise history – and he’s already the best player to tie them to that position ever at Indianapolis . No question.
Buckner was shocked (and stupidly) snubbed for the Pro Bowl, but he should get high consideration for AP All-Pro honors in 2020 – on top of that PFF All-Pro nod.
Be behind only super monster Aaron Donald that’s not a bad thing, as Buckner is still a defensive monster for the Colts.
Meanwhile, another Pro Bowl snob was Colts safety and special teams. George odum, who led the NFL in special team tackles (20) –when no one else had more than 16 tackles of this type. For what it’s worth, PFF gave Odum a special teams rating of +91.2 in 2020.
It’s a shame Pro Bowl voters were only interested in name recognition and voted on the New England Patriots 9x Pro Bowl Special Team. Matthew slater again because no disrespect towards Slater, but Odum was the most deserving player this year.
Finally, there is the return of the Colts rookie Jonathan taylor, who finished the season with the NFL’s fastest 3rd yards at 1,169 – which also led all rookies in 2020. Taylor averaged 5.0 jpc. out of 232 total runs of a workhorse and also had 11 touchdowns.
He also performed much better as a receiver and pass blocker than initially expected.

In 2020, Taylor received an offensive rating of +83.9 from PFF, who was the 7th best among all running backs in the league.
The three Colts deserved such individual recognition. However, call me ‘old school’, but I’m still a little surprised I don’t see eternal All-Pros Quenton Nelson and Darius leonard on such a PFF “All-Pro Team”.
