Colorado schools are out of action after a woman in Miami "infatuated" with the 1999 Columbine massacre made threats and traveled to Colorado where she bought guns earlier this week. according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the FBI.

Sol Pais, 18, who has a habit of making "disturbing" comments, arrived in Colorado from Miami early Monday morning and bought a shotgun and ammo, the FBI told the press Tuesday night. The Miami FBI office reportedly alerted its counterpart in Denver after learning of the potential threat.

Authorities said Pais had been last seen in the foothills of Denver and that he was still on the run. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office currently heads several agencies as part of a large manhunt. Although no arrest warrants were issued against him, the FBI stated that district prosecutors and the US Attorney's Office were discussing appropriate charges.

The Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force of the FBI issued a notice on Tuesday describing Pais as "loving the shootout at the Columbine School". The alert indicates that the police who come into contact with her should detain her and assess her mental health.

More than 20 schools – including Columbine – were locked out on Tuesday, meaning classes were held as usual, but entries and exits were severely restricted for almost three hours. Officials have not yet decided to keep the schools open Wednesday, the Denver chain reported.

"We are delaying this decision and are not announcing it now, because the situation is changing every minute," said Stan Hilke of the Department of Public Safety.
