The one-camera supernatural comedy is by duo Joe Port and Joe Wiseman.
CBS continues to solidify its 2021-2022 schedule.
On Wednesday, the network distributed a collection of series for the scripted comedy Ghosts, featuring Zombie Grad Rose McIver.
The single-camera comedy, originally launched for piloting a year ago and stalled by the pandemic, is based on the British series of the same name. It revolves around a struggling young couple whose dreams come true when they inherit a beautiful country house only to find that it is both falling apart and inhabited by many previous deceased residents.
McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar (The Mindy project) stars as the couple, with a cast that also includes Brandon Scott Jones, Richie Moriarty, Asher Grodman, Rebecca Wisocky, Sheila Carrasco, Danielle Pinnock and Roman Zaragoza. The order is for 13 episodes in total.
New girl Former Joe Port and Joe Wiseman wrote the screenplay and co-produced Lionsgate, CBS Studios and BBC Studios alongside Mathew Baynton, Jim Howick, Simon Farnaby, Laurence Rickard, Ben Willbon, Martha Howe-Douglas, Alison Carpenter, Debra Hayward, Alison Owen and Angie Stephenson. Trent O’Donnell directed and executed the pilot.
Ghosts becomes CBS’s first comedy series pickup for the 2021-2022 broadcast season. The project was one of four comedy pilots that were picked up as part of the 2020 development season which was effectively wiped out by the pandemic. CBS chose to keep the options on the cast and roll the project, ultimately filming the pilot when it was safe for the cameras to roll again late last year.
Ghosts joined the microphones directly in series for CSI: Vegas and produced by Dick Wolf FBI spin off FBI: international on CBS’s 2021-2021 schedule. The network has been busy distributing early renewals and this week added three more seasons of The Big Bang Theory prequel Young Sheldon. The other shows that should return to the network’s program next season are Bob Hearts Abishola, FBI, FBI: Most Wanted, Neighborhood and The equalizer.
