Company withdraws Arnold Schwarzenegger sponsorship for pro-mask rant where he said “Screw your freedom”

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s pro-face mask tirade in which the former Republican governor said “Screw Your Freedom” has lost a corporate sponsor because of his rant.

What did Schwarzenegger say?

In an interview earlier this month, Schwarzenegger advocated for COVID-19 precautions and mocked Americans opposed to wearing face masks.

“I think people should know that there is a virus here. It kills people, and the only way to stop it is to get vaccinated, wear masks, social distancing, wash up hands all the time, and not just thinking about “Well my freedom is being disturbed here,” Schwarzenegger said.

“No, go crazy for your freedom!” did he declare. “Because freedom comes with obligations and responsibilities, you can’t just say, ‘I have the right to X, Y, Z’ when it affects other people. ”

Schwarzenegger conceded that Americans “are free to wear no masks” but called these people “schmuck.”

What happened now?

Sports supplement brand REDCON1 announced this week that it is abandoning all corporate sponsorship of Arnold Schwarzenegger and all Schwarzenegger-related events, including the annual bodybuilding competition known as the Arnold Classic.

In a statement, REDCON1 cited Schwarzenegger’s “anti-American” remarks.

“With such stupendous influence, Arnold sees, making the public statement, ‘Screw your freedoms, is dangerous and anti-American. REDCON1 is a pro-freedom patriotic brand and community. We support the individual freedoms of everyone, ”the company said.

“We have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars as the main event sponsor, and this year the exclusive webcast sponsor, but we cannot in good conscience continue to support and be involved with someone. who has such diametrically opposed beliefs, “the statement added.

“With this, we take a strong stand for the rights and freedoms of all Americans, regardless of their political affiliation or personal beliefs,” the statement continued. “REDCON1 is rooted in the uncompromising belief that you have a right to your opinion and that you should not be insulted or persecuted for having a different opinion. ”

“We are choosing you and your rights beyond an organization led by Arnold, which does not agree with American views,” the statement said.
