With the release of Harley-Davidson LiveWire, which is fast approaching, ELECTrek is in Brooklyn to make a first turn on the new electric motorcycle. And now we have just learned the full specifications of LiveWire. Read on to have all the dirt on this new high-end electric bike.

Until now, we know that the LiveWire has an urban range of 235 km and a 0 to 60 km / h time of about 3 to 3.5 seconds.

We also knew that Harley-Davidson's first electric model would have a Level 3 DC charge to charge the battery from 0 to 80% in 40 minutes or from 0 to 100% in 60 minutes.

But now we finally get the full specifications of H-D.

It turns out that the LiveWire will feature a pretty big battery of 15.5 kWh. To put this in perspective, the largest battery proposed by the industry leader, Zero Motorcycles, is 14.4 kWh, giving H-D a slight advantage. To be fair, heavy cycling and high performance mean that the range does not quite match Zero's best offerings.

The LiveWire battery is built from Samsung cells and comes with a 5 year, unlimited mileage warranty.

For those who do not plan to use the Level 3 DC Charging option very often, a Level 1 charger can be stored under the LiveWire seat. A night charge of 10 to 11 hours is enough for a full charge.

Speaking of power, the LiveWire contains a 78 kW (105 hp) engine. Keeping the typical style of Harley-Davidson, the engine is prominently on the bike. The designers opted for a longitudinal design, placing the engine under the battery along the long axis of the bottom of the bike. This requires the use of a special 90º gearbox to transmit this power to the belt rear wheel. The gearbox also adds to the typical roar of the engine and the belt that's found in most electric motorcycles, giving LiveWire a distinct sound.

The 0-60 mph (0-97 km / h) time has also been reduced to 3.0 seconds, while the next 60-80 mph (97-128 km / h) takes only 1.9 seconds. The maximum speed of LiveWire is 177 km / h (110 mph).

The engine and controller share a liquid cooling system, while the battery is air cooled. A dedicated air intake is located just below the fake tank and forces air to pass through the cooling fins of the battery.

The LiveWire includes a number of performance motorcycle parts, including Brembo Monoblock brakes and Showa suspensions.

The LiveWire bike is equipped with the company's H-D Connect technology, which provides cellular connectivity to connect runners to LiveWire via their phone. IOS and Android apps include essential features such as step-by-step instructions, ride planning, remote motorcycle system monitoring, load monitoring, dealer and event locations, and more.

The app also transmits key information about the health of the vehicle and offers the owner the assurance of being able to remotely monitor LiveWire security, including tampering alerts via the app and the app. assistance of the stolen vehicle.

Four different driving modes (Sport, Road, Range and Rain) are available to allow the rider to choose the appropriate maneuverability and performance for different scenarios. Three other custom programmable driving modes are also available. Intelligent driver assistance features such as traction control, anti-roll control and anti-lock braking are included in the LiveWire.

Another feature not previously reported is that the LiveWire is hiding a USB-C charging port in the front fascia just behind the lighthouse. It is always easy to access to charge your phone, but otherwise you would not notice it if you did not know how to get it.

Although I'm not optimistic about this, the LiveWire may be the first vehicle to have a built-in USB-C port.

I'm not sure that the USB-C port alone will make the price of $ 29,799 easier to swallow, but the combination of high-performance and high-end components does not hurt. And Harley-Davidson is also planning a number of smaller, more affordable electric two-wheelers by 2023. But for LiveWire, I will not really know if the bike is worth it until I can do a few kilometers myself.
