Air traffic over, from and to France was heavily affected on Sunday morning after a failure of the common computer and communication systems. As a result, several thousand messages – communications between airlines / aircraft / airports to the French ATC – are queuing up. The French work to solve technical problems.
Air traffic authorities have significantly reduced their capabilities in the following air traffic control (ACC) zones: Marseille, Bordeaux, Paris, Reims and Brest. Significant delays are expected at Paris CDG airport, the largest airport in France.
On the social networks, passengers complained about their long wait times on board: delays of more than three hours are not unusual at the moment. The delays do not only concern flights to and from France, but also, for example, between Spain and the United Kingdom, a passenger learned that her Malaga-Manchester flight had been delayed by two hours.
Update 10:00 (UTC +2): computer systems are now in recovery mode, the French air traffic control will gradually increase the capacity. Delays will be possible, however, because background traffic must be cleared.
Passengers rushed to Twitter to comment on their delay
Air traffic control system down throughout France. @easyJet The pilot in flight for Lisbon EZY6253 has just given a wonderful and empathic explanation to the passengers. Leaving us informed and understanding the problems and possible solutions. Excellent management and relationship skills.

The last time I took the plane to France, the flight was canceled. This time, we are on the plane but we will not take off before 2 am because of an unscrupulous computer in France. Now, someone has fainted and is a medical emergency. The next time I go to Italy. #bored #late

Really do not need this shit today. The restrictions of air traffic control in France have delayed this flight of 3.5 hours and I have to stay in the plane because we have already boarded.

@ Ryanair do not even have the courage to tell passengers that it's a strike! They accused the control of the air traffic in France. Pathetic! https://t.co/N28lvzdXnj

@Gatwick_Airport do you have some updates on EZY8989? It was said that there were air traffic problems in France but that there did not seem to be any information online
