It was recently revealed that Pyra and Mythra are coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as the fourth two-in-one challenger in Fighters Pass Vol. 2. More information regarding these representatives of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be revealed during the next presentation of Mr. Sakurai Presents which starts on March 4, 2021 – next Thursday.
About a month after Sephiroth was revealed as a character entering Super Smash Bros. Ultimate after Steve from Minecraft, an anonymous poster on 4chan was able to correctly predict that the next newcomer would be from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. The post in question also provided some very glaring information. clues about the next two challengers that would follow after the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 rep – who we now know to be both Pyra and Mythra as a two-in-one fighter who can freely transform into each other.
“Nintendo is currently planning to host a three-hour live concert in 2022 where a symphony orchestra will perform orchestrated renditions of songs that appear in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate,” the anonymous poster said. “This event will take place in Japan after the second Fighters Pass is over and they will take every precaution to make this event happen. They will be streaming the event live on YouTube for everyone to see. will. distribute a soundtrack disc on the My Nintendo service. “
Following this, they provided a list of songs that would be supposed to be played during the three hour event. It seems like every character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (with one exception) would have a portion of the time spent with the symphony orchestra playing a song highlighting that character. The main themes of Super Smash Bros. 64, Melee, Brawl, Smash 4, and Ultimate would also be mixed throughout the concert.
For example, themes such as “Jump Up, Super Star!” would be played for Mario, “Main Theme – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” would be played for Link, “Open Your Heart” would be played for Sonic, “Meta Knight’s Revenge” would be played for Meta Knight, “Vampire Killer” would be played played for Simon Belmont, “One-Winged Angel” would be played for Sephiroth and so on.
What’s odd about this list is how completely Ken from Street Fighter is missing. Other Echo Fighters like Lucina, Dark Pit, Daisy, and Richter seem to have songs that highlight their presence in Smash. Maybe the poster accidentally left out Ken?
The song listed after the theme “One-Winged Angel” was “Counterattack – Xenoblade Chronicles 2.” With the exception of Piranha Plant, every DLC character added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate expands the game’s already massive library of music tracks. Notably, “Counterattack” was one of the themes of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 that played during the tape. -announcement of Pyra & Mythra.
The two songs listed after “Counterattack – Xenoblade Chronicles 2” and before the “Galeem / Dharkon” theme are “N. Sanity Beach” and “Proof of a Hero” – themes that come from the Crash Bandicoot and Monster Hunter franchises respectively.

Since there is already Monster Hunter content in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, “Proof of a Hero” is already present in the game, although it is likely that this theme will receive some sort of remix if a representative of Monster Hunter was added to the game.
It’s worth mentioning that the only Mii DLC costume pieces that haven’t returned from Smash 4 yet are the Lloyd Irving parts from Tales of Symphonia and the Monster Hunter costume parts. If Monster Hunter is really planned, this would probably be the only real opportunity to re-release these Mii costume pieces for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Rumors of an unverifiable “five-year plan” document for Crash Bandicoot suggest Crash is set to make his Super Smash Bros. series debut. in 2021. Other plans that were supposed to be on the list included the concepts of a Crash Team Racing remake and a new Crash Bandicoot game (Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time) – both have happened.
A gig of these proportions implies some finality for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which likely means there wouldn’t be a Fighters Pass Vol. 3. This matches what Masahiro Sakurai said previously about how the continued development that has unfolded since Smash 4 will end after the conclusion of Fighters Pass Vol. 2.
Nintendo would probably need permission from all the intellectual property owners to remove something like this. Additionally, the symphony orchestra would need time to practice this three-hour concert, which provides possible explanations as to why this poster would have this information. All of this comes across as a massive undertaking that would make it difficult for Nintendo to keep quiet.
As always, it’s important to take all rumors with a grain of salt as there have been many similar “leaks” that have stated that Dante, Ryu Hayabusa, Doom Guy and many more are supposed to come to Smash as well.
