Condé Nast Traveler’s annual Readers’s Choice Awards were released on Tuesday, and three Colorado hotels, as well as one resort, made respective top 50 global lists in 2021.
Arriving at n ° 31 for hotels, Gravity Haus Breckenridge received a nod for the second year in a row, after opening in 2019. The ski-in ski-out boutique hotel is one of three Gravity Haus accommodation options in Colorado; the other two are located in Vail and Winter Park. “The hotel is part accommodation, part social club and 100% focused on catering for a certain type of discerning outdoor enthusiast,” says Condé Nast. “There’s a fitness and sports recovery center and bowling lanes, as well as a co-working space, cafe and restaurant, and even a Japanese-inspired onsen.”
Number 28 for hotels, Lower Highland Living House, opened during the pandemic in Denver. LoHi’s first boutique hotel, it has 16 rooms, including rooms with bunk beds for groups of traveling friends. And the lobby bar and restaurant are a must see at street level.

“Inside, the lobby looks like a prospector’s Victorian house,” says Condé Nast. “Its restaurant, Wildflower, continues history with a menu honoring the neighborhood’s early Italian and Mexican settlers. At the dimly lit bar, a young crowd sips old-fashioned drinks, looping the story from the border outpost to the modern urban epicenter of cool.
Art, a Hotel (No. 18) in Denver is now a Readers’ Choice winner for five consecutive years. This living gallery is positioned among Denver’s world-class art museums and features its own pieces by Leo Villareal, Ed Ruscha and Kiki Smith, to name a few. “Here, the works of art are not only a flourishing of design, it is the main objective of the hotel itself,” writes Condé Nast. “You will find culture connoisseurs and serious business travelers looking for something a little different by staying in its 165 rooms, which feature minimalist design and – surprise! – even more works of art.
Finally, arriving at n ° 45 of the best hotel complexes in the world, C Lazy U Ranch in Granby is officially a four-year winner. And this year, the ranch is coming out of a particularly rough season in which forest fire damage to the property has exacerbated COVID-19 closures. But the ranch is back and thriving, from its catering program to its “cowboy” tubs.
“On 8,500 acres, the ranch does it all,” says Condé Nast, “combining children’s programs with luxurious spa treatments for adults. The log cabins have been renovated in recent years, and with their covered and heated riding area, visitors can ride horses all year round.
