Well, we have a stunner.
Tuesday night in WCC final, second seed Saint Mary's – who had little or no chance of winning an auction with a defeat against No. 1 Gonzaga in the league match – thwarted Gonzaga 60-47 to win the automatic bid and give the program his seventh NCAA tournament appearance in 18 seasons under Randy Bennett.
It was the first victory of the school against a ranked No. 1 team in history. In reality:
Saint Mary's slammed Gonzaga's perfect run to the WCC and potentially jeopardized the Zags' No. 1 seed prospects. We will have to wait and see Sunday's selection. It is always a congested ground for the first line; as of Thursday morning, the only real chance for a No. 1 seed is Virginia.
SMC was one of five teams to bid Tuesday night. Here are all the others who will be called Sunday by Greg Gumbel.
In the first window, No. 2 North Kentucky He was dominant from the start of the game for the Horizon League title, beating No. 1 Wright State 77-66 and avenging defeat against the champion. This is the second appearance of Big Dance in three seasons for the Nordiques, who are not even ten years old in Division I. John Brannen is an underrated coach.
In the NEC title game, No. 2 Fairleigh Dickinson defeated No. 1 St. Francis (PA) 85-76 on the Red Flash floor, giving the Knights their second appearance in the NCAA under coach Greg Herenda; FDU is for the last time in the most important category in 2016. The match for the NEC title is often dramatic, but it is controlled by St. Francis most of the night. This is the sixth time that FDU participates in NCAAs.
And in the CAA finals, the # 1 Hofstra fell to Vasa Pusica and N ° 2 northeast, 82-74. Pusica had lost his mind, losing seven goals to three and thus lowering pride and senior outlaw Justin Wright-Foreman, who is the second-leading college basketball scorer this season (27.0). For the Northeast, this is the Huskies' second trip with coach Bill Coen, the first to return in 2015.
Meanwhile, the Summit League championship has seen No. 4 State of North Dakota Omaha 73-63, number 2, is making his second NCAA in five seasons under Dave Richman. Bison is a seed of 16 seeds. Incredibly, just two leagues out of eleven saw their number one seed win the automatic auction: Wofford at SoCon and Iona at MAAC.

And here's what you need to know about other people who have already received their ticket.
MAAC: Iona
The MAAC Tournament Championship match went to Iona for the fourth consecutive season. The Tim Cluess Gaels beat Monmouth 81-60 in a No. 1 vs. No. 6 match. Iona has achieved the NCAAs in six out of nine seasons under Cluess, making it one of the most consistent in the middle of the last decade. Iona is likely to be a seed of 16 in what has been a good year, but it's not a vintage Gaels team, top-notch offensive.
SOCON: Wofford
the Wofford Terriers It will take a series of 20 wins and the Southern Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with what should be a quality seed.
The Terriers came back to win Monday night against UNC Greensboro, 70-58, in the SoCon title match. In doing so, Mike Young's team could create another line of seeds. Jerry Palm introduced Wofford as a seed of eight. A 7 or a 6 is it possible? Why not? This is the fifth NCAA tournament participation in the program's history, all coming since 2010.
ATLANTIC SUN: Freedom
the Flames of freedom are on the way to the fourth big dance in the history of the school. Liberty s is imposed for the second time this season in the Lipscomb lead pack, in a game featuring 23 lead changes. A 74-68 final means that the 2018-2019 Flames squad joined the 1993-94, 2003-04 and 2012-13 teams to take another step. A seed of 13 is likely for the 28-6 flames.
Liberty won despite the most hilarious and blatant flop of college basketball this season.
GREAT SOUTH: Gardner-Webb
Sunday afternoon, Gardner-Webb defeated second-seeded Radford – the reigning champion of the current Big South tournament – to make his first NCAA tournament in the history of the program. The Runnin & # 39; Bulldogs have deserved well: before beating Radford, Gardner-Webb knocked head-to-head Campbell home in the semi-final of Big South. Newcomers to the tournament rank as a seed 16 in Sunday's selection.
MISSOURI VALLEY: Bradley
In the Missouri Valley Tournament, Bradley went into history: the Braves only scored 15 points at halftime against northern Iowa, before missing an 18-point deficit to win the biggest win of return of the history of the MVC title. The final: 57-54. The Braves will participate in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 13 years. Back in 2006, Bradley was in a lot; Sunday's win is the school's first conference tournament championship since 1988. Bradley will be ranked 15th or 16th according to the way conference tournaments of major importance take place in the coming week.
OHIO VALLEY: Murray State
On Saturday night, the Ohio Valley Conference tournament presented the first of 68 bids at the 2019 NCAA. Murray State played a solid game and won 77-65 against Belmont, which created an interesting debate on the bubbles. Murray State's victory means Ja Morant, a potential pick of the top-five picks in the 2019 NBA draft, will be back in the NCAAs for a second consecutive season.
The Racers, who appear to be a seed of 13, will be watching regardless of which team they will face in the first round. With the talent of Morant, this team is obviously a prime candidate for the Cinderella story the first weekend. At 27-4, Matt McMahon's team poses a real threat to just about every person she will see in the NCAA Tournament. The riders will have the longest official expectation of all teams up to the selection Sunday: eight days.
