The Northwestern Georgia District Health Department confirms a second case of hepatitis A in two weeks.

On Friday, the health department confirmed that a food processor at Krystal, located at 2560 Lafayette Road in Fort Oglethorpe, had been diagnosed. The infected worker handled food from March 15th to 24th.

The Ministry of Health recommends anyone who ate at that time to check with a health care provider if the vaccine is the best route.

You can get a free hepatitis A shot at the Catoosa County Department of Health on Saturday, April 6 from 8 am to 4 pm It is located at 145 Catoosa Circle in Ringgold.

The Health Department also advises anyone who has eaten at Krystal on Lafayette Road to:

  1. Watch for their health status to detect symptoms of hepatitis A until fifty days after exposure.
  2. Wash your hands with soap and lukewarm water frequently and thoroughly, especially after using the bathroom and before preparing food.
  3. Stay home and contact your health care provider immediately if any symptoms of hepatitis A infection develop.

Last week, the health department also announced a diagnosis of hepatitis A at a McDonald's employee's in Chickamauga.
