Connecticut mall shooting kills 16-year-old, suspect still at large: report

A 16-year-old girl was shot in the chest Wednesday night at the Danbury Fair Mall in Connecticut, according to local media.

A witness told Fox News he was in the mall when he heard a loud gunshot near Macy’s entrance shortly before 7:30 p.m., causing people to flee.

The status of the 16-year-old is unclear and it is unclear whether the suspect (s) are still in the mall, reports FOX61.

Dozens of law enforcement officers escorted passers-by out of the mall as they attempted to take control of the scene, according to videos posted by News 12 Connecticut.

Connecticut State Police are assisting the Danbury Police Department at the scene and urging the public to stay away from the mall.

The mall, located about an hour north of New York City, is one of New England’s largest malls at over 1.2 million square feet, according to real estate investment firm Macerich.
