A Connecticut mother has been arrested after allegedly admitting to killing her 4-year-old son, authorities said on Sunday.
New London Police responded at around 6:27 a.m. Sunday morning to a report that a woman damaged a parked vehicle with a bat outside an apartment at 242 Nautilus Drive.
Upon arrival at the scene, the police contacted the owner of the vehicle. The reported suspect, later identified as Tiffany Farrauto, 33, had left the scene before police arrived.

While at the scene with the vehicle owner, Farrauto approached the police and informed them that she had “strangled” her four year old son, who was inside the apartment. .
New London Police Chief Peter Reichard told a press conference on Sunday that Farrauto told officers to ‘take me away’. When one of the officers asked her why she wanted them to take her away, “she indicated that she had harmed her son and that her son was in the apartment,” Reichard alleged.
Police immediately entered the apartment, where they found a young boy unconscious and unresponsive. Officers immediately began CPR with the goal of resuscitating the child, while notifying emergency medical personnel. The child was then transported to L + M Hospital by New London firefighters. The child was declared dead shortly after arriving at the hospital by medical staff.
The scene was immediately secured and detectives intervened to investigate the incident. The State Attorney’s Office for the New Judicial District of London, the Connecticut State Police – Eastern District Major Crimes Unit and the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office have also been briefed and responded to the complaints. places.

Farrauto was initially arrested on two counts of third degree criminal mischief. Following further investigation, Farrauto was also charged with murder and risk of injury to a minor.

Speaking of the child’s death at Sunday’s press conference, Reichard began to be moved.
“I spoke to the officers who got to the scene first. They were suffocated by it. They all have children of the same age and it hits home. Reichard added that he will not publicly identify the boy until the child’s father and family are informed first. Police offered condolences to the child’s family in a statement posted on the department’s Facebook page.
An investigation into the incident is continuing. An autopsy will be performed on Monday to determine the cause of the child’s death. Farrauto, who is being held on $ 2 million bail, will also undergo DNA testing, Reichard said.
