Conor McGregor addressed the devastating leg injury he suffered at UFC 264 in a loss to Dustin Poirier in what was supposed to be the last epic fight in their rivalry on Thursday.
McGregor injured his leg at the end of the first round and Poirier was awarded a victory via a technical knockout by doctor save. The Irishman had to be taken out of the arena on a stretcher and had to undergo surgery to repair a fractured tibia and fibula.

However, he said in an Instagram video that he was already injured before the fight.
“I was injured before I fought. People would ask me: when did the leg break? “” When did the leg break? Ask Dana White. Ask the UFC. Ask Dr. Davidson – the chief medical officer of the UFC. I had a stress fracture in my leg entering this cage. There was talk of removing it. “

He said he had several stress fractures in the shin bone above the ankle.
“I never would’ve committed to going under the knife unless something like that happened.… And what I needed was a titanium shin,” McGregor said.
He vowed to return to the octagon.
UFC President Dana White told TMZ Sports on Wednesday that he expected the former UFC champion to return in about a year.

McGregor has reportedly been medically suspended and will not be able to start training until at least January, unless he obtains prior permission.
