As if I didn’t already have a huge backlog of cool stuff to play on Game Pass, Microsoft revealed that Control is coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC on Thursday. Remedy’s spooky interdimensional shooter is already available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and even Xbox Game Pass for console, so it was only a matter of time. I am delighted to come back.

The Game Pass Twitter account announced the good news yesterday, saying it would be available on the subscription service on Thursday, January 21 – in just three days.

The game puts you in the shoes of Jesse Faden, a woman who must face strange monsters in a mysterious place called the Federal Bureau Of Control. You can do this with guns or superpowers. I played a bit of it myself and really enjoyed throwing things with my mind.

Brendy (RPS in peace) similarly thought in his review Control: “Most battles are fun gun fests. Control is a very useful shooting game. It feels good in the fingers, you know? And there are a lot of wobbly visual effects that make your powers feel like Hollywood super-absurdity.

Alas, with the news of a cool new addition comes the news of some games taking their time off as well. A quick glance at the Xbox app will tell you that Sea Salt, Gray, Fishing Sim World: Pro Tour, Final Fantasy XV, and Indivisible will all hit the road on February 1.

I’m sorry but look at this delighted man holding this fish beast. What is this post about and why is it not about him and his great friend.

If you’re looking for more good times to get stuck in January, What Remains Of Edith Finch hit Xbox Game Pass for PC last week, and bands like Among Us and Monster Train also joined the service last month.

As always, you can get an Xbox Game Pass membership for just £ 1 / $ 1 for your first month, with the price going up to £ 8 / $ 10 per month thereafter. This is: a very good deal.
