Control: Lack of save transfers and PS Plus announcement of Ultimate Edition shocked fans

Control: The lack of next-gen save transfers in the Ultimate Edition and the recent addition to the PS Plus line has frustrated gamers who bought the game early to get a later upgrade. Last year, The publisher of Control caused controversy by announcing that only Control: Ultimate Edition, a new version of the game, would receive a free upgrade from current platforms to the next-gen platforms.

With the current version of the Ultimate Edition released last year (and the next-gen version delayed thereafter in 2021), many have apparently paid for the game in order to wait for the upgrade and play the game. new generation version later. However, when the PS5 Ultimate Edition was announced for release on February 2, it was revealed as a day-and-date version for PS Plus, offering a free download in exchange for the monthly subscription. The move left many players who had prepaid for the next-gen version upset with the surprise announcement of a much cheaper method of purchase.

To add to the problems, Remedy subsequently announced that the backup files of the latest generation versions of Control could not be transferred to the next generation ultimate edition, which means that those who started the game on their old consoles will have to restart entirely on their PS5 or Xbox Series console.

Remedy’s communications director explained, “The version of our engine in the next generation control is very different from the version used in the previous generation control. The moves left some fans frustrated with the lack of communication and wanting to know ahead of time that they would need to play early on in the game on the next gen, and could even have had this version for free as a PS. More subscribers. Some have requested refunds for their previous purchase.

Many pointed out that when Maneater ‘shark-PG’ was added to PS Plus, subscribers who had recently purchased the game were automatically reimbursed.

@AskPlayStation so i bought the Control Ultimate edition less than a week ago for $ 20 from the psn store. I haven’t even played it yet. I was waiting for the ps5 upgrade. I don’t deserve a refund like everyone else did with Maneater being a PS + game

We reached out to control publisher 505 Games for comment.

Control was IGN’s 2019 Game of the Year, and our review Control said it “creates a compelling and eerie world that never loses its supernatural tale.” The Ultimate Edition of the game adds a 30 FPS graphics mode with ray tracing and a 60 FPS performance mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
