Controversial Assist Timo Meier hands the Sharks to a 3 victory game

You will not believe that, but there has been a lot of controversy in the NHL playoffs tonight. In overtime play between the Sharks and Blues, Erik Karlsson scored the winning goal, his second goal of the game, to give San Jose a 2-1 lead. The Sharks' 5-4 victory, however, was not politely welcomed by the St. Louis crowd, as Timo Meier's assistance to Karlsson's goal certainly seems to have been whistled.

For those unfamiliar with Rule 79 of the NHL, a player can not hit the puck with his hand to a teammate, or "(allow) his team to gain an advantage" with a pass, seems like the play should have been eliminated as soon as Gus Nyquist hit the puck. Myself, I can not even know exactly what is reviewable and what is not, but apparently, it could not be rechecked by officials. It's an incredibly difficult break for the Blues, who led late in the game until Logan Couture equalized with a minute at the end of the settlement. And it's even worse for their sticks.

Somewhere, Jonathan Marchessault and Gabriel Landeskog shake their heads sympathetically in a dirty bar with dim lighting and 1 Bud in the fridge.
