Convenient Control – Remedy's next game is easy to control

Alan Wake and Remedy, developer of Quantum Break, showcased their latest Action-Adventure Control game at PAX East, and I made a whirlwind on my first visit to the Boston fan show.

The 20-minute demo revealed nothing of the story, but I had a good taste for the game on PlayStation 4. Publisher 505 Games will launch the game on August 27 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with simultaneous digital access. launch on Epic Games Store for PC.

Control is a supernatural game in the third person. Its gameplay is similar to that of Quantum Break, which debuted on Xbox One and Windows in 2016. On PS4, the game does not have all the attributes yet. on PC graphics powered by Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics cards with realistic lighting and real-time ray tracing.

But the PS4 version still seems good. The demo had a big stamp on the screen that called it "work in progress".

The entire game takes place as part of the demo in a place called The Oldest House. You play as Jesse Faden, the new director of the Federal Bureau of Control, who sits inside the house. This so-called house is a large multi-storey building with marble floors and stairs.

The Federal Bureau of Control is responsible for studying supernatural phenomena and the game combines a familiar reality with the strange and inexplicable. The office was invaded by a supernatural threat known as The Hiss. Jesse has to face the consequences of that. Bodies float in the air and government soldiers armed with heavy weapons and special suits attempt to attack Jesse.

She does not fight only with firearms, but with her own supernatural powers. If you hold the right bumper of the PS4 controller, you can pick up an object that you point to. Then you can aim for an enemy soldier and release the object, send it flying directly into the enemy. It's a bit of what you could do in Quantum Break by manipulating time.

You can also levitate in the air by holding down the X button on the controller. If you hit the right stick, you can attack others with a powerful landmark. But you are not invulnerable. Enemies shot at me enough times that I was dead and I had to reappear.

If you inflict enough damage on an enemy, a box appears next to it. If you hold the square button, you will be able to take control of the enemy and make it fight for you. It makes life easier.

I had some tasks to accomplish, such as defeating enemies, entering an office upstairs and finding a way to cross a "maze of mirrors" in one of the rooms. Once, for the elevator to work again, I had to find a green box and plug it into some sort of plug. The game did not really tell me how to do that, so I had to ask for help.

There were different types of enemies in the basement, which I accessed by elevator. And there was also a variety of characters to beat. My demo is over before I can understand the mirrored labyrinth.

You can see that this game is built on the same Northlight engine that Remedy used for Quantum Break. Much of the fighting resembles Quantum Break and the controls were very simple to learn. Up to now, Control looks good, has an intriguing story and is easy to play. Hope he really plays this way when it comes out in August.
