GOP Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and her staff reportedly “berated” House Democrat Cori Bush of Missouri, who said Friday she was moving her office to Greene “for the safety of my team.”
Bush also said in a tweet that the Georgian Republican “targeted me and others on social media.”
Bush, in reference to the deadly Jan.6 riot on Capitol Hill by supporters of former President Donald Trump, noted that she had “called for the expulsion of members who instigated the insurgency from day one “.
In the aftermath of that invasion, Bush introduced a resolution directing the House Ethics Committee to investigate whether lawmakers attempting to overturn President Joe Biden’s election victory “violated their oath to rule. office “and” should face sanctions, including impeachment of the House of Representatives. “
Bush’s statement implied that Greene should be included in this proposed investigation. Greene and Bush are both newly elected representatives who were sworn in to Congress earlier this month.
Spokesmen for Greene and Bush did not immediately respond to CNBC’s requests for comment on the Missouri Democrat’s Twitter statement, or for further details of the alleged altercation.
An aide to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Confirmed to NBC News that Bush’s office has been reassigned. “This change in room allocation was by direct order of the President,” the assistant told NBC.
Bush and Greene have offices on the same floor of the Longworth House Office Building, one of three buildings for House members on Capitol Hill.
Greene has expressed support for the radical pro-Trump QAnon conspiracy theory, which believers in some cases have hailed for the break-in on Capitol Hill, which has left five dead.
Greene was recently criticized over reports that she accosted a survivor of the Parkland School shooting and liked social media posts calling for violence against Democrats.
On Wednesday, a news crew from NBC affiliate WRCB was reportedly pulled from a town hall event and threatened with arrest after trying to ask Greene a question.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Lambasted Greene and the “absolutely appalling” decision by leading House Republicans to appoint Greene to the House Education Committee.
“What could they be thinking? Or is that thinking a word too generous for what they could do? Pelosi said Thursday at a press conference.
