First-year Democratic MP Cori Bush is moving her office away from GOP MP Marjorie Taylor Greene, she tweeted on Friday. Bush said her colleague “threatened” and “berated” herself and her staff.

Greene has been widely condemned by many House Democrats for promoting a host of conspiracy theories and endorsing statements that Democrats should be executed. A House Democrat said he plans to bring forward a motion as early as next week to expel him from the chamber.

Bush initially tweeted that she was moving out of her office because of Greene’s behavior on Friday. In a subsequent statement, Bush described an incident on Jan. 13 in the tunnel between the Cannon House Office Building and the Capitol, when she said Greene “came from behind me, declaiming loudly into her phone without wearing a mask. ” The day before, several Democrats had announced that they had tested positive for COVID-19 after being locked up with Republican members who refused to wear masks during the attack on Capitol Hill on January 6.

“For the sake of the health of my staff, other members of Congress and their congressional staff, I have repeatedly asked him to put on a mask. Taylor Greene and his staff responded by berating me, with one staff member shouting: ‘Stop inciting violence with Black Lives Matter, “Bush continued. Greene also” castigated “Bush on Twitter on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Bush said,” for wrongly accusing me of leading a crowd that was calling for the McCloskey family’s “rape, murder and burning down” in St. Louis – thus pointing to me as a target for their hundreds of thousands of Twitter followers. “

“All of this led to my decision to move my office to Taylor Greene for the safety of my team. My office is currently being relocated from the Longworth House office building,” said Bush. An aide to the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, confirmed to CBS News that the change in room allocation was by direct order of the speaker at Bush’s request.

Bush tweeted later that she did not move her office “out of fear”.

“I moved my office because I’m here to do a job for the people of Saint-Louis,” she wrote. “What I can’t do is keep looking over my shoulder and wondering if a white supremacist in Congress is conspiring against me and my team.”

Greene posted a video on Twitter Friday afternoon challenging Bush’s claim. The video shows Greene walking through the tunnels under the Capitol when someone, allegedly Bush, yells at him to follow the rules and wear a mask. In the tweet, Greene says Bush is the “leader of the St. Louis Black Lives Matter terrorist mob” who “lies to you” and “berates me.”

Since being sworn in earlier this month, Greene has been rejected by her fellow congressmen. California Democrat Jimmy Gomez is expected to present his resolution to kick Greene out of the House of Representatives next Tuesday.

In a Wednesday night statement announcing his plan, Gomez cited Green’s amplification of conspiracy theories regarding the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, as well as his past support for media posts. social calls for violence against Pelosi and other Democratic politicians. Gomez’s call for Greene’s resignation was echoed by the parents of some of the students who were killed in the 2018 shooting in Parkland, Florida. CNN reported on Thursday the existence of a video from 2019 where Greene is pictured harassing teenager David Hogg, a shooting survivor.

Connecticut Democrat Jahana Hayes – who represents the Newtown neighborhood, the site of another school shooting – sent a letter to the Republican leadership of the House and the top Republican of the House Education and Labor Committee, North Carolina Rep. Virginia Foxx, to strip Greene of her new assignment on that committee.

Media Matters for America reported on Thursday that Greene wrote a Facebook post in 2018 with the anti-Semitic claim that a space laser controlled by a nefarious group had started wildfires in California.

However, a spokesperson for Greene told CBS News that she will not resign.

“They come after me because I threaten their goal of socialism. They come after me because they know that I represent the people, not the politicians. They come after me because like President Trump, I will always defend the conservatives. They want me out because I represent the people. And they absolutely hate it, ”Greene said in a statement.
