Senator John Cornyn, the campaign and R-Texas actor Patton Oswalt had a heated discussion on Monday after the Cornyn team republished a series of 50-year "offensive" tweets.

Oswalt made a brief appearance in a Tuesday video announcing the Democratic Senator Mary Jennings "MJ" Hegar, former Air Force helicopter pilot candidate.

MJ Hegar, a former Air Force helicopter pilot, declared his intention to run for one of the seats in the Texas Senate against Senator John Cornyn.

Team Cornyn, the official Twitter account of Cornyn's campaign, republished a series of "offensive" tweets from the 50-year-old actor and asked why Hegar would join Oswalt. Some Twitter users have accused the campaign of "beading".

"Patton Oswalt, a Hollywood Hegar supporter and video guest, has tweeted offending comments over the years – answer A or B to tell us which one shocks you the most," read one of Team's tweets Cornyn. The message included a screenshot of old Oswalt tweets.

In a few hours, the tweet received nearly 9,000 comments, but only 450 "I like". Twitter users scoffed at Cornyn for his perception of caution. Others have accused it of hypocrisy for not calling President Trump for including the "S word" in a Friday tweet.

Oswalt weighed in, accusing Cornyn of being "more scared" than Hegar and not debating it. He later mocked Cornyn for unintentionally promoting Hegar and pleaded for his campaign "never stop".
