Oregon reported 23 new deaths from COVID-19 and 1,580 new cases on Friday. The Oregon Health Authority has released a new forecast predicting a continued decline in daily cases and hospitalizations through mid-October.
Based on transmission rates, the agency predicts an average of 1,050 to 1,275 new cases per day between October 13 and 26.

The 3,961st Oregon death is a 32-year-old Douglas County man who tested positive on August 27 and died on October 6 at Oregon Health & Science University Hospital. He had no underlying condition.
Oregon’s 3,962nd death is a 43-year-old Douglas County woman who tested positive on September 10 and died on October 7 at her residence.
The 3,963rd Oregon death is a 72-year-old Coos County man who tested positive on September 25 and died on October 6 at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center in RiverBend.
Oregon’s 3,964th death is an 82-year-old man from Coos County who tested positive on September 22 and died on October 5 at his residence.

Hospitalizations: 656 people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 are hospitalized, down 43 from Thursday. That includes 167 people in intensive care, six fewer than Tuesday. There are 48 available adult intensive care beds out of a total of 688 (7% uptime) and 294 non-ICU adult beds available out of 4,229 (7% uptime).
Vaccines: Oregon has reported 3,073 people vaccinated for the first time.
Since start: Oregon has reported 341,113 confirmed or suspected infections and 3,982 deaths. To date, the state has reported 5,236,053 doses administered, fully immunizing 2,546,757 people and partially immunizing 218,695 people.
