Oregon reported 796 new coronavirus cases and 22 deaths on Tuesday, as Governor Kate Brown said some businesses in worst-hit counties could now allow very limited numbers of customers indoors after previously enforcing closures .
Among the minor changes, interior buildings such as museums, gymnasiums and cinemas that have more than 500 square feet of space will be allowed to accommodate up to six people at a time, instead of zero. The new restrictions do not apply to restaurants.
While Tuesday’s number of new cases exceeded Monday’s numbers by hundreds of cases, they haven’t broken the downward trend seen in Oregon since January 15. The current weekly average of new cases per day is 698 compared to 1,309 daily cases the week of January 14. .

The prevalence of infections: On Tuesday, the state reported 1,165 new positive tests out of 23,706 tests performed, a positivity rate of 4.9%.
Who was infected: New confirmed and suspected infections increased in the following age groups: 0-9 years (35); 10-19 (115); 20-29 (137); 30-39 (122); 40-49 (104); 50-59 (93); 60 to 69 (80); 70-79 (44); 80 years and over (37).
Who is in the hospital: The state reported that 308 Oregonians with confirmed coronavirus infections were in hospital on Tuesday, 12 fewer than Monday. Of those, 70 coronavirus patients were in intensive care units, five fewer than on Monday.
Vaccines: As of Monday, 40,775 Oregonians have been fully vaccinated and 222,385 others have been partially vaccinated.
Since he started: Oregon has reported 139,355 confirmed or suspected infections and 1,904 deaths, among the lowest totals in the country. To date, the state has reported 3,105,100 lab reports from testing.
