FA few months later, a senior adviser to Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders used his platform as a journalist to criticize his boss without revealing his political role.

David Sirota was appointed speechwriter and senior advisor to Sanders in March, but before that, he was working informally for the Sanders campaign, according to Atlantic. When campaign manager Faiz Shakir confirmed that Sirota had advised Sanders, Sirota had removed more than 20,000 tweets from his profile, which has more than 125,000 subscribers.

In one of the tweets in January, Sirota responded to criticism after attacking the record of Beto O'Rourke, candidate for the year for 2020, not stated at the time. He used his program as a self-proclaimed journalist to defend himself against these critics.

"The tantrums of the Democratic Party agents whenever journalists examine a legislator's voting record are to be seen. These people literally hate democracy, "Sirota wrote. In writing that, he was working for Sanders.

Sirota has also attacked other 2020 candidates, including Democrats Sens. California's Kamala Harris, Cory Booker of New Jersey and Michael Bennet of Colorado.

"Wow, Kamala Harris has started every 24 hours to withdraw from Medicare for All as soon as the government and the billionaires start complaining," he tweeted in January.

Booker was also criticized for "defending the Mitt Romney Wall St. firm, attacking the Obama campaign and voting with the GOP to help the pharmaceutical industry remove legislation aimed at lowering the price of drugs."

Earlier this month, Sanders sent an e-mail urging his supporters to "engage with the respect of our Democratic opponents."

S addressing the Atlantic about the article, Shakir said that he thought Sirota was apologizing for previous tweets. "All I can say is that in the future he is really a team player," Shakir said.

Sirota attempted to divert his attention to Twitter on Tuesday after the start of the story, saying that people should focus on his wife, the Democratic State's representative, Emily Sirota: I'm not worth more than 7000 tweets. But you know who is? Democratic State Rep. @EmilyForCO – especially as she and her fellow Democrats and herself are currently fighting for leading legislation aimed at protecting the health and safety of people. #copolitics "

Tuesday evening, after the purge of tens of thousands of tweets, Sirota had less than 200 on his account.
